I wanted to start this post by saying how much I love this lady and her adorable son.
I wish Danielle was my fourth sister (because you can never have enough sisters)! The more the merrier! Danielle gives the most heartfelt advice and love and is always there to listen to even the silliest little things. She is also an incredible mother to her son Xavier, whom she has raised to be the sweetest little boy.
I’m not a mother, but I know that raising your child can be really hard sometimes. I also know that raising your child alone is even harder. But Danielle does it all with a heart big enough to encompass everyone she meets and a smile that can warm even a mid-January Boston winter. Whether she’s making me look beautiful as I sit in her salon chair or we’re at her house late at night talking about life, Danielle has helped me feel important, happy, and loved when I’ve been so far from family. I will always appreciate her talent for taking people under her wing and making them feel like they are loved.
Several weeks (probably more like months) ago, I asked Danielle if I could take her’s and Xavier’s pictures. As things tend to go, life happened and for several months we kept saying “let’s set a date for pictures!” without ever actually scheduling anything. Eventually though, we found a day when we both had our planners with us, and we’re able to pencil something in. We managed to squeeze the shoot in between all of my family visiting, and her going out of town for what felt like most of the summer. From the pictures, I’m sure you can tell how much I enjoyed this shoot!
With the date we scheduled at hand, we met at an elementary school in Lexington and walked across the street to a field that I can only describe as the most magical example of New England scenery you can imagine. It was one of those scenes that you can’t help but stare at is it flashes by your window during your commute to work, the morning light illuminating it in the most welcoming way. The kind of place that each time you pass, you tell yourself you need to stop and take a picture.
Happily, I can finally say that I stopped in that field! I knew I wanted pictures of Xavier playing sports and running around, since that is something that he cares so much about and I knew this field was perfect.
Although, the day we met was overcast, it proved to be no less beautiful (who am I kidding, you know that as a photographer I’m a sucker for some cloud coverage and diffused light)! While it took Xavier some time to warm up to the camera, we finally were able to get some beautiful images, all with the help of some motherly tickling and a soccer ball to kick around.
Danielle and Xavier, I hope these photos will help you smile for many years down the road! I love you guys!
