December. That was the last time I talked about Passages here on the blog. DECEMBER. Five. Months. Ago! It definitely goes without saying that it’s time for another update!

And while I don’t have a WHOLE lot to update you on (with things just now starting to wrap up with Green Rider), I do have a few items.  Like the fact that I have two images currently in the works and on the drafting table! Two! Woohoo!

My working names for them are currently Differences and Thistle, although this will most likely change once I put up my usual “help me name this piece” poll on Patreon (because I’m terrible at making decisions and need my Patreon followers to help me decide between titles).

I am currently a little bit further along with Differences than I am with Thistle, meaning I have a pretty solid idea of what I want the costumes to look like. You can see the designs I’ve (mostly) settled on in my sketch book:

 

 

I’ve also purchased the fabric for both gowns that will be featured in Differences and have been spending the last two or so years (yes, years) collecting silk flowers each time I’ve made a trip to the thrift store (I’ve had the idea for this particular image on my mind for quite some time now). The silk flowers are a crucial part of the costume design, so I’m excited to see all my patient collecting finally put to use.

 

 

As for Thistle, this image isn’t quite as planned out. Really, all I currently have is a source of inspiration (the thistle) and a color scheme (blues, purples, and greens). But here are some sketches I’ve been jotting down to help me figure out how I want this image to take shape.

 

 

I also have to figure out a location for this one, but what I am currently envisioning is a foggy field in the early morning or dusk light. Kind of vague, but that’s how most ideas start. Things will start to come together more as I continue to consult Pinterest (my go to source to help me visualize my ideas better) and once I’m able to do a bit of fabric shopping.

 

This weekend I’ll be heading to NYC, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to shop around in the Garment District for some inspiration on the Thistle dress. In next month’s update, hopefully I’ll have a few costumes beginning to take shape and can share that with you! For now, I’ll keep consulting Pinterest and hopefully I’ll be able to report back with success in my Garment District hunting this weekend. Wish me luck!
